Smashing good idea. That's exactly the kind of thing the Reds should be contemplating. Find someone else who likes pitchability and exchange it for some juice.

The main problems now are the pen and defense. Both could be addressed with players in house.

So in the short term(to help the team now) starting pitcher is not the #1 problem. In the long term it is, especially since most good relievers are failed starters. I certainly wouldn't advocate trading anything of value for a reliever. Guys like German, with some potential pass through waivers quite often.

The current management seems fascinated with control pitchers who have no upside.
