Hey, is there such a thing...

I'm making this website as a project for a class, and I'm doing it on the Reds. I do have a roster page, and was wondering, is there a script I can place on the player pages that automatically updates the stats for players?

Try Dougstats.com

He has a raw feed he updates nightly i think but you would need to know how to import his set of data to your web page using some sort of server side language or xmlhttp (javascript)

The charts in my signature (my nerdy charts) actually uses dotnet to pull stats from cbs.sportsline.com using an http client object then converts it to XML to use as a dataset.

I thought redszone always had class. Except for me, of course.

Good luck on your project. Let us know if it gets an "A". Plus, keep the website for some of us can use it if we have a similiar class.

Re: Hey, is there such a thing...

Your gonna need to learn a server side language. Its not really something that can be quantified into a thread post.

I would suggest you learn about ASP, ASP.NET, Java, PHP or Perl because if you dont know that stuff, you are just gonna frustrate yourself.

If you are just learning how to make web pages, I would stay away from importing data into a website and just learn the basics.

Re: Hey, is there such a thing...

O'Reilly has a book called "baseball hacks". It's required reading if you are looking to do this sort of stuff. It definitely is well beyond the scope of a frontpage class.
