Can't remember the title of a country song

Okay, I need help. I'm trying to think of a song, I believe it came out around 1998 or 1999. The basic premise of the song is to pay forward a good deed or favor to someone in place of the person who just helped each character in the song. I think there was a part in the song about someone stranded on the side of the road, and a waitress and a tip, and it was sung by a male country artist, but I don't recall who it was. Does this sound familar to anyone? Google searches haven't brought up anything for me so far.

I had that on vinyl, till my daughter's boyfriend kicked his feet on the table where it was lying, and crushed it. Dude looked like "Joey" from the TV show Friends too. Took me forever to find that record.
