Bengals Draft

Looks like biggest need is a starting tight end. But probably will take best player available, likely defense. Is anyone hearing anything different?

Re: Bengals Draft

Has anyone seen any interesting mock drafts?

Any hints where Marvin is leaning for our picks?

Best website for mock drafts is www.hailredskins.com.

Mercedes Lewis a TE from UCLA is mentioned as the Bengals pick in a lot of mock drafts. I hope that is the pick. The Bengals have been weak for years at TE and Lewis would be a great pick.

Re: Bengals Draft

No need to get a TE in the first round with how ridiculously deep the TE pool is in this year's draft. They could get a very quality TE in the third round. I think they need to address defensive line and secondary in the first two rounds... a pass-rushing monster end would help, and someone to push Tory James at CB (I don't think Ratliff is the long-term answer, personally.)

Re: Bengals Draft

My personal perference is DE/LB Manny Lawson from NC State. Marvin mentioned possibly going to the 3-4 defense. Lawson and Pollack would form a nice pair of OLB's.

I think they will get Lawson if hes still available at #24, if not they might get tight end Lewis.

I don't disagree with this, but third round is a stretch. As a matter of fact, I could see us getting Leonard Pope or Marcedes Lewis in the second if one or both slipped.

These players would make my draft.

Antonio Cromartie
Jason Allen
Donte Whitner
Thomas Howard.

If we get one of those four in the first round, im very happy.

I agree with you that it does sound like a stretch....I was going to say Lewis or Pope could be around in the second, but then I thought "well, Dominique Byrd or Joe Klopfenstein will likely be around in the third". Don't get me wrong, I would be thrilled with either Marcedes Lewis or Leonard Pope, and if they fall to us in the second, I'd take them but the way I was thinking, if the Bengals can address secondary and d-line in the first two picks, someone like Byrd or Klopfenstein or maybe Fasano will be around in the third and would be a quality pick. That was my thought process.

That said, I am in agreement on those secondary picks you listed. Jason Allen is who I most coveted in my mock Bengals draft where I picked out the eight guys I wanted to see them get. I would like Kiwanuka if he's availble because I really believe a pass rusher is a strong need, but would be thrilled with Allen or Cromartie. Ashton Youboty is another I've had my eye on.

It all depends on if Lewis or Pope fall out of the first. If they do, we might get a TE in the third round. If not, I could see Klopfenstein, Byrd, and Fasano going second to early third round.

Re: Bengals Draft

I'm hearing a lot of talk that the Bengals could be looking at tackle in the one of the first two rounds because with the contracts for Levi and Big Willie up at the end of 2006 and health concerns regarding both.

Personally I hope they move down and grab an extra third like Denver did if an obivious choice is not at 24. This draft is deep with talent in the second and third rounds.

Re: Bengals Draft

I hope they take the best player available. I can't stand when teams leave someone big on the board because they think they can't use them. They end up taking a guy who would have went #28 at #17 just because they need a tackle.

I'll never, ever forgive the Bengals for taking Big Daddy over Marshall Faulk. Never.

Re: Bengals Draft

If the mid/late 90s Benglas had Faulk, I'm not sure it would have made much of a difference.

This is exactly what I've heard they will do from an inside source that I kind of know about.
