Aaron Small DFA'd

Anybody want to add him to the pile?

Yankees designate Small for assignment

6/17/2006, 2:15 p.m. ET
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) — Aaron Small, struggling this season after going 10-0 last year, was designated for assignment Saturday by the New York Yankees, who recalled pitcher T.J. Beam from Triple-A Columbus.

Small is 0-3 with an 8.46 ERA in 11 appearances, including eight in relief. He gave up two earned runs in 1 1-3 innings in Thursday's loss to Cleveland.

"I didn't get the job done, and they felt like I'm a fish out of water in the bullpen," Small said. "I'm more of a starter, but I'm not going to make excuses. I apologize for not getting the job done. It's pitching, and I didn't get people out consistently."

I'm sure Wayne K has thought about it. He got by purely on guile last year, but he certainly got by.

I'll pass. We don't need more pitchers who's best asset has been luck.

Aaron Small wasn't the other guy the Reds could have had when they acquired Claussen for Boone?

For some reason, Aaron Small reminds me of Danny Graves.

Re: Aaron Small DFA'd

No thanks.

It's funny...there are always posts whenever there is a rumor of Griffey/Dunn to NY or Chicago or wherever saying "Who do the Yankee fans/media/FO think they are, always saying that they should be able to get whoever they want?" And whenever there is a pitcher released by another team, no matter who they are, someone posts here and asks if we could use him.

Just shows the huge disparity in baseball markets.
