Re: Cancelling AOL

Canceling AOL was very amusing for me. But I knew what to expect, so it was kind of funny to hear it all play out.

Re: Cancelling AOL

I had a very similar experience when cancelling DISH NETWORK.

After about a half hour of stern arguing, they gave me a deadline to have my equipment returned and they then made it impossible for me to get the equipment to them by the deadline by not sending me the box to return it in.

I cancelled the credit card that they had, because I had heard of them billing the credit card for $300-500 when the equipment is not returned in time. I then got a bill for a $249 equipment fee. I wrote the words SHOVE IT with a black marker and mailed it back to them.

Re: Cancelling AOL

Aww jeez, I'm planning to jettison my AOL on the account that I think its blocking any sort of wireless broadband router from being properly installed in my PC!

Then again, try asking AOL WHY its not working. Oi, after I was told by the manufacturer to contact AOL, they told me to contact the manufacturer!

That was probably about 8 years ago now.

I told AOL I was moving out of the country.

Tell them you're going to prison... I got out of a cell phone contract scot-free with that one... I do that to telemarketers, too.

Re: Cancelling AOL

As a former CSR for a large Broadband ISP(not AOL) I can tell you that this isn't shocking... that said, i never would have heard this kinda stuff at my former place of employment. We had retainment strageys of course, but nothing along the lines of this arsehat.

Re: Cancelling AOL

My sister told them that her house had burned down. Didn't work.

She threatened them with the state AG, and they cancelled her. Same thing I did, eventually, three months after I started trying to cancel..

They did that to me. I had an HD reciever though.

They billed me for close to 1000$

I called and threatened to break the guys neck and he said he would cancel the fees. That was before I even mailed back the boxes.

They never sent the boxes the first time and I had called them. They kept lying when I called and said they were on the way.

I tend to think I am VERY nice with people just doing their jobs, but I couldn't handle this guy's attitude.
