Oliver Perez Moved..

To the bullpen..

Rotoworld.com:

Oliver Perez, who is 2-10 with a 6.63 ERA in 15 starts, has been removed from Pittsburgh's rotation.

No offical word yet on who will replace him in the rotation, but it's almost certain to be Tom Gorzelanny, who turned in another excellent outing for Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday. We think it'd make more sense to put Perez in Triple-A -- especially since neither Jim Tracy nor pitching coach Jim Colborn seems to have any clue as to how to turn him around -- but since Gorzelanny will finally get his chance, we're not complaining.

Re: Oliver Perez Moved..

As young as he is, he may pull out of this nosedive at some point. But, he just doesn't know how to pitch unless he can reach back and find that 97 mph fastball. There is simply no telling if he will ever be any good again, and I wouldn't give up much at all for him.

I think the Pirates could use a scrappy vet like Rich Aurilia...

He has to be hurt, you don't just lose velocity like that when your that young without something being wrong.

I'd look at the shoulder if it's a drop in velo.

I remember Dempster throwing 96 for the reds and his elbow was confetti.

Re: Oliver Perez Moved..

You don't go from throwing in the upper 90's to the upper 80's without something being wrong medically.

That or getting off the juice...

I'm speculating the latter.

Yep. I am so skeptical of all these players who fall into these categories:

1) Losing 5-6 mph off their fastball
2) Huge drops in power from year to year
3) Long, extended absences for seemingly mysterious injuries/illnesses
4) Look like they are Pee Wee players one season after looking like Arnold

I wouldn't say I want no part of him... I'd say i'd take him at the "right" price...

The Swap of bad left handed pitchers? MIlton or Perez? ... Only Dreaming....

But, if we were to call over and see.... I wouldn't mind giving up a little to get him...

LaRue, Javy, Ray-Ray, Aurilla (even thou I like him where he is at), Freel?

Remember... Buy Low - Sell High.

At least Perez is relatively cheap dung.
