Re: 7/5 Minor League Updates

Louisville has a double header. Pitching for them will be Steve Kelly in game 1 and Tom Shearn in game 2.

Johnny Cueto is going again tonight for Sarasota. Lets hope he can rebound from his first start.

Anthony Gressick is scheduled to pitch for the Billings Mustangs later tonight.

Re: 7/5 Minor League Updates

Cueto didn't pitch the 4th inning accoring to milb.com.

His final line was 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K.

He struggled with his command a bit (again), but the hit total and strikeout toal since the promotion has been solid. I wonder why he only pitched three innings though?

Re: 7/5 Minor League Updates

Lookouts are tied 6-6 in the 14th inning.

I guess they ran out of bullpen guys because Rick Asadoorian just pitched 2 scoreless inning for them.

2 IP, 2 Hits, 0 Runs, 0 BB, 5 K

Re: 7/5 Minor League Updates

The lookouts take a 8-6 lead and they move Asadoorian back to the outfield and bring in Abbott to pitch the 14th.

Re: 7/5 Minor League Updates

umm... do you think they'll move Asadoorian to the mound permanantly? He struck out 5 of the 6 guys he faced, after standing around in right field for 12 innings!

I doubt it, IIRC he pitched last year in a similar situation in extra innings.
But who knows maybe he's another Brian Shackelford.

Wagner pitched in game #1 for the Bats today.
1 2/3 IP, 0 Hits, 0 Runs, 0 BB, 2 K

Batters are still hitting .342 off him for the year though.

Re: 7/5 Minor League Updates

Asadoorian is a former #1 pick by Boston. My guess is that he was probably a two-way player in high school. Heck, he's not making the big leagues being a .250/.300/.400-hitting part-time outfielder, so why not?

Re: 7/5 Minor League Updates

Anybody know anything about the Herrera kid who started for the Sarasota GCL team yesterday? I recall reading a snippet about him back in the winter, following instructional league, I think -- something about a hard-throwing young lefthander.
