Baseball's Secret Formula

On July 10th, the Science Channel (check local listings) is airing a show about the use of stats to predict future outcomes regarding player evaluations etc. I'm guessing that they are talking about sabermetrics and I think I saw Bill James in the commercial. They mentioned it helped a team go from cursed to first which is a reference to the Red Sox. I know there are people on this board who are heavily involved in this topic so I wanted to let you know of this program. If I remember right it is called Baseball's Secret Code or something very close to that.

If this needs to be moved to a different forum, please do so.

Re: Baseball's Secret Code

Baseball's real secret is that batting averages contain a code that can be used to predict future events. Lou Boudreau's 1946-1951 batting averages accurately predicted the fall of the Shah of Iran decades before the fact. Decode Alan Trammell's career numbers and you have a haunting account of worldwide drought and famine set to occur in 2014.

How many "Secret Code" shows are they going to produce to cash in on the DaVinci Code phenomenon?

Re: Baseball's Secret Code

Adam Dunn's statistics can correctly predict that he will continue to strike out with runners in scoring position.

Re: Baseball's Secret Code

I just had a question about your name are you saying that Hal Morris is great or are there a certain set of rules that Hal lives by?
Don't mind me I'm just being stupidly annoying.

tired. your anti Dunn rants are getting old dude.

Yes, Dunn is in a HUGE slump.
Yes, strikeouts are just another out.
Yes, a K is bad with a runner on 3rd and less than two outs, though not as bad as a ground ball to second with a runner at 1st and 1 out.

Now that we have that covered can we rag on the bullpen for a while, cuz last time I checked the offense wasn't the big problem with the Reds.

I said nothing about Adam Dunn. Just poking fun at how bad it gets around here with the pro/con Adam Dunn discussion. Be nice and I'll let you help me move furniture. And yes the bullpen reeks.

It would be awfully nice if the Reds weren't so stationary. I'd say that is a problem.
