What is up with Claussen????

I am hearing that the Reds' 5th starter in the second half will NOT be Joe Mays OR Brandon Claussen. Does anybody know how Claussen's rehab stint is going?

If not one of these two guys, then who?

The usual answer to the thread title is his ERA.

He was bombed in his first outing. I think discussion that the #5 slot will go to someone other than Mays/Claussen is just wishful thinking at this point.

Re: What is up with Claussen????

My source says it is not just wishful thinking. The way he put is was, "I am not sure who it will be, but I can tell you who it won't be, it won't be Mays or Claussen."

We were talking and he put it this way, "at some point, over-the-hill retreads and nibblers just aren't Krivsky's style."

I assume over-the-hill refers to Mays and "nibblers" refers to Claussen (even when healthy).

He also said that Milton was told to go get hitters or find himself begging for innings....and that Krivsky has been told that Castellini is OK with "eating the rest of Milton's money."

I remind people that my source is a couple of persons removed and that some opinion is usually salted into what I hear.

Re: What is up with Claussen????

Excuse me flyer.....but my source nailed the trade that just happened....and he nailed it a month ago.

Mys source had Kearns and Wagner going in a trade. And I wasn't going to mention this, because I think it was more his opinion than info, but he also noted that Lopez was a second choice of Bowden.....Bowden wanted EdwinE but Krivsky insisted on Zimmerman in return....which wasn't going to happen.

Sources are sources.....sometimes they pan out.....sometimes they don't. I never said my source was the assistant GM or anything.

Germano should be a bullpen option/long man.

Re: What is up with Claussen????

I don't understand why they don't give Belisle a chance to go out there? I think he could do a ton better than Claussen and Mays. At least you can't do any worse...
