Surprising stat

Hatteburg is 15th in the league in OPS, and 24 points higher than Carlos Lee. What a pickup by WK.

Re: Surprising stat

2006 Reds can be summarized by 3 names:

Scott Hatteberg
Brandon Phillips
Bronson Arroyo

All WK moves. The rest is just details.

Re: Surprising stat

Don't forget David Ross. Hasn't played as much of a role as the other three, because of first a lack of playing time, and then the injury, but also another very valuable pickup by WK that also gives the team some flexibility when it comes to making any potential deals. The play of Ross makes Larue and Valentin expendable, and in a package with another player or two, might reel in something half way decent, but that remains to be seen.

You mean second among first basemen. He's 7th overall.

Shoot, maybe we could have traded him to Texas for Laynce Nix, Kevin Mench, and Francisco Cordero...

Just makes me hat ethat one year extension that much more.

I wish Hatteberg was playing all crap-like so that we wouldn't be tempted to re-sign him.

This was slightly tongue in cheek. That said, we're pretty much getting what we expected out of Dunn, Harang, etc. Ramirez has been solid, but not had the impact of those three. I meant the comment in reference to the effect Krivsky has had compared to what the team might otherwise have been like, not an overall "best players" statement. Given that, you could even throw Ross on the list.

Wishing to cut off the nose to spite the face... not usually a good idea.
