Dunn is going to kill a catcher some day

Dunn has got to be one of the best I've ever seen at running over a catcher. He kills them. Damien Miller got his melon out of there just in time or he would have woke up at the hospital. Remember the one a couple years ago v Ramon Hernandez? Dunn is going to kill a catcher some day. And you gotta love it.

Yeah, especially since you know he was gassed running all the way from 1st. And remember he fouled a ball off of his shin in that at bat. Couldn't have been a comfortable trip around the bases.

If you see the replay, you'll notice that he actually turns to run square into Miller.

It won't be his fault if he does. Nobody told the catcher he had to stand in front of a freight train lol.

I was at the game when he charged the mound on a Phillies pitcher a few years back. He hit a homer, and plowed over Lieberthal on a play at the plate earlier in the game. Apparently that set off the pitcher, who threw behind him twice. (Ozzie Guillen would have been ticked!)

Re: Dunn is going to kill a catcher some day

I remember that! Although, the reason he charged the mound was because Larry Bowa was pi$$ed that Dunn trucked his catcher with the Reds winning something like 10-1 (in the 6th?) and they obviously threw at Dunn 2-3 times. He let it go the first time, then went after him. That pitcher was damn lucky that Liberthal got a shoelace tackle on the former high school quarterback.

Another footnote from that night: I always ripped Casey, but I have a lot of respect for him. He had Dunn's back... first one swinging (even though he missed). I remember Todd Pratt took him down, but didn't even punch him, probably because Casey is the nicest guy in baseball.

Gosh, I hate to turn this into fight thread, but does anyone remember Scott Sullivan pummeling... was it Brian Hunter? He charged the mound and Sully stood there and waited on him, then beat him to the punch, hitting him in the jaw and knocking him to his knees, then getting a couple more good shots in before everyone piled up?

... that was awesome...

Remember when Paul Wilson charged Farnsworth and Farnsworth tackled and like broke his nose. Though it wasn't good for our Reds, it sure was funny!

Re: Dunn is going to kill a catcher some day

Does anyone remember, I think it was 2001 in his first season with us, Dunn ran into I think it was Gookie Dawkins in short left field while they were both chasing a pop fly? Dunn hardly felt it, and for a moment I thought Dawkins was going to join Ray Chapman as the only guy to die as a result of an injury on the baseball field.

As I remember it, Wilson was trying to bunt, and Farnsworth threw one up and in. Wilson yelled at him, and then stutter stepped like he was going to the mound, at which point Farnsworth charged him[I] and tackled him in the batters box, punching him in the face repeatedly.

I was embarrased by that one.

Same pitcher that had the problems with the Chi Sox this year. Padilla.
