Cardinals on verge of acquiring Belliard

The Cards are expected to acquire Ronnie Belliard from the Indians following today's game. They're also trying to get Guillermo Mota.

Looks like a good move on their part.

Re: Cardinals on verge of acquiring Belliard

I would absolutely hate seeing Ronnie Belliard instead of Aaron Miles.

Reds pitching is perfect for Belliard. They somehow never learned the guy is nothing but a dead pull fastball hitter.

Unfortunately, the Reds haven't been able to take advantage of that sweep.

Well not completely, but we did gain two games in those last four.

Re: Cardinals on verge of acquiring Belliard

According to Ken Rosenthal the deal is complete. The Cardinals acquire Belliard in exchange for Hector Luna.

Luna is as good as hitter as Bellird is now. Belliard better with the glove.

Luna way younger, much cheaper, and good potential.

Colour me unimpressed.

I like Belliard. It makes the Cardinals better. But, not by much. I still consider St. Louis to be an extremely vulnerable club, and on the decline.

I'll bet they aren't done yet.

I expect to see one of the big named pitchers wearing Cardinal within two days.

They always make the moves.

Not sure what people have ever been impressed about with Belliard. For 4M, I'd say bleh.

Nice move by the Cards. Good move by the Indians as well, since Belliard was a pending free agent.
