Who's your (Suicide) Squeeze ?
The suicide squeeze is on.
Who do you want batting and who do you want 90' from home plate? Any players, any eras, any combinations of players. Of course, why do you think this way.

Re: Who's your (Suicide) Squeeze ?
Ty Cobb on third and Brett Butler at the plate isn't a bad start.
Cobb holds the record of steals of home - 35 steals alone and 19 on double steals, I believe - so he'd likely get as good a jump on any player coming down the line from third base. Brett Butler is arguably one of the greatest bunters in the history of the game so I'd like the odds of him laying down a nice bunt.

I was gonna say Ty Cobb, and Ty Cobb.

Dick Butkus would be the runner at third.
It wouldn't matter a lick who was at the plate. ka-POW! |

![]() Of course if you had Cobb at 3rd, you wouldn't have to squeeze. Like Cyclone said, he'd just steal home. I imagine ol' Tyrus would be a pretty good guy to handle the bat too. What about Jackie Robinson at 3rd? If the bunt fails, he'd just get into a rundown and make the other team screw up.

In either role, Jim Coombs.

Re: Who's your (Suicide) Squeeze ?
stealing home depends on the other team's pitcher going from the windup. They don't always oblige.

Re: Who's your (Suicide) Squeeze ?
Using todays Reds players; I would take BP at third and Deno at the dish (he's a righty. plus Deno can do anything)

Re: Who's your (Suicide) Squeeze ?
I'll take Cobb, Jackie Robinson, or Pepper Martin coming down the line. All fast and would have no issue with doing whatever it took to score the run. At the plate I'll take Carew

Re: Who's your (Suicide) Squeeze ?
Ty Cobb on 3rd. Lou Brock if Cobb not available.
Peter Edward Rose at the plate. The man could always get the bat on the ball when it counted. Not a pure bunter per se, but Rose always got the job done. |

Even if he could, I think Butkus would still steamroll him. Upon further consideration, though, I think there is one guy who could be behind the plate & make the collision interesting: Mike Ditka. ![]() Da Bears! |
