Reds that have post-season experience...
I heard one of the TV announcers (not sure who) say that the Reds lack post season experience.
I looked it up and was surprised how many guys on the 25 man roster DO have post-season experience. Here goes... Pitchers: 1. David Weathers, 1996 Yankees. 2. Eddie Guardado, 2002 and 2003 Twins 3. Kyle Lohse, 2002, 2003, and 2004 Twins 4. Rheal Cormier, 1995 and 1999 Red Sox 5. Kent Mercker 1995 Braves, 1999 Red Sox, and 2003 Braves 6. Eric Milton, 2002 and 2003 Twins 7. Bronson Arroyo, 2003, 2004, and 2005 Red Sox Position players: 1. Royce Clayton, 1996 Cardinals, 1998 and 1999 Rangers 2. Ken Griffey Jr., 1995 and 1997 Mariners 3. Scott Hatteberg, 1998 and 1999 Red Sox, 2002 and 2003 Athletics 4. Rich Aurilia, 2000, 2002, and 2003 Giants 5. David Ross, 2004 Dodgers 6. Juan Castro, 1996 Dodgers 7. Todd Hollandsworth, 1995 and 96 Dodgers, 2003 Marlins So half of the roster has some post-season experience. It is interesting to note that Krivsky picked up 9 of these 14 since he took over, by my count. [Edited to add Juan Castro as noted below: Thanks] [Edited again 8/9/06 to add Hollandsworth]

Pretty sure we don't expect much, if anything out of the guys in bold when it comes to the post season.... On another note, in a short series for the playoffs, do we go to a 3 man rotation, and if so, who's the #3? Elizardo? Milton? That question right there scares me into thinking we have a less than stellar shot at advancing once getting to the playoffs. |

Re: Reds that have post-season experience...
Don't forget to add Juan Castro to the list--he played for the '96 Dodgers. And here's a good trivia question: Of Reds pitchers, which one leads the team in playoff starts? The answer is, of course, highlight here: Kent Mercker.
If I need a third starter for the playoffs, assuming he's healthy, I turn to Brandon Claussen. He's off to a bad start, but given time, I think he'll prove himself as a solid, consistent starter. If he's not healthy, I just turn to the bullpen for an entire game since we've got a bajillion relievers right now. Here are the postseason stats: Code:

Claussen has a 8 plus ERA in triple A. If we're depending on him as 3rd starter in the NL playoffs we should just mail it in and not go.

Re: Reds that have post-season experience...
Arroyo's #s look worse than he's mostly been. One disastrous start and one lousy relief appearance in a blowout did almost all of the damage, if I'm remembering right.
