Moving to a distant country for love?

For a person you loved deeply, would you be willing to move to a distant country knowing there would be little chance of seeing your friends and family again?

Do the Reds count? I'd move to the distant country of Ohio for the Reds, knowing I would only see my family at holidays and such.

Re: Moving to a distant country for love?

And I thought I started a lot of threads!

Would I move...probably not. I am too lazy and self centered to make a change of that magnitude to my life.

Just keeping it real....

Thanks for a couple of threads from a woman's perspective and concerning relationships and emotions, TC. Nice change of pace.

Only if she was really, really hot.

I moved to Nashville for my beloved. Does that count for a Yankee?

Re: Moving to a distant country for love?

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool romantic. So, yes, I would go to the ends of the earth for a passionate lover. In theory, anyway. It sounds terribly exciting and adventurous.

Guess it depends on the country.

Iran? Southern Chile? Siberian Russia? Notsomuch.

Some tropical island paradise with scantily clad voluptuous women as far as the eye can see? Youbetcha.

Doubt it. This is the best country in the world, I have no desire to live anywhere besides the United States.

Re: Moving to a distant country for love?

I'd be more interested in the distant country than the love part.

edit: and I think I just explained a lot of my romantic history right there.

I moved to Knoxville for mine. If we can find someone here who moved to Memphis, we'll have all of the major metro areas in the Volunteer State covered.

To answer the original question, I wouldn't move out of the country now. I might have done it back when I was single and my worldly possessions could fit in a mid-sized car.
