Bergolla outrighted to Louisville

Looks like Bergolla cleared waivers and was outrighted to Louisville. Seems like Bergolla DFA was a roster move intended to make room on the 40 man roster. So Reds keep Bergolla, just not on the 40 right now.

So Bergolla DFA turns out to be "much ado about nothing," although Reds probably don't think too highly of Bergolla if they took him off the 40.

I think it's obvious nobody feels highly about Bergolla now.

Re: Bergolla outrighted to Louisville

I suspected they were basically risking losing Bergolla knowing he probably wasn't going anywhere, although I wasn't sure of that.

Re: Bergolla outrighted to Louisville

Seems no one else did either then.

I am surprised. I assumed a KC type team would roll the dice on a kid who can field like that.

It would have been great if either Bergolla or Olmedo would have been able to hit enough to grab the job at SS. Heck, I wish Gookie had been able to hit. Whats he doing these days?

It'll be interesting to see if he gets put back on the 40-man at the end of the season, after jettisoning the various injured pitchers and veterans Krivsky picked up for the stretch drive

Re: Bergolla outrighted to Louisville

He will probably come back for Clayton or Castro, assuming Krivs doesn't have another middle infielder in his sights as a FA. When it comes down to it Bergolla was never going to get a call up during September so why waste the spot.

I think sometimes we value our players higher then they deserve

Re: Bergolla outrighted to Louisville

I had to talk Mr. Krivsky out of ordering the Racehorse Treatment for Bergolla since his steals have dropped so much. We settled on the outrighting thing.

We like the kids who want to hit so badly they don't bother waiting a few pitches before swinging.
