Re: August 23rd MVP voting
Since you didn't make the poll results public, I think we all know who voted for "Sir Albert".

I voted Beltran. I think it is a toss up between him and Pujols right now.

Re: August 23rd NL MVP voting
He's on a lousy team, but I think Lance Berkman is the best player in the NL. I would love to have him on first base in Cincy.

No one scares pitchers/managers/coaches/wives/kids more than Albert Pujols. No one...

Re: August 23rd NL MVP voting
As much as I can't stand him, I have to pick Pujols

Re: August 23rd NL MVP voting
Beltran is having a g reat season and I would love to have him on the team. But Pujols is an absolute freak and I can't vote for Beltran given a 100 point OPS difference. And as good as Beltran is defensively, Pujols is probably the best defensive 1B in the NL too.

Re: August 23rd NL MVP voting
Howard isn't even having the best season on the Phillies. That honor belongs to Chase Utley. I would vote Utley over Howard for MVP of the NL.

OPS Howard: .997 Utley: .918 HR: Howard: 43 Utley: 22 RBI: Howard 112 Utley: 78 The only stats that Utler has an advantage in are 2B, RS, and BA.

Quote:
The OBP is a wash, Utley's .385 to Howard's .383. IIRC, Utley was leading the league in hits, which should count for something. Granted, his OBP is BA driven, but Utley sports a better K:BB ratio. For as great as Ryan Howard is, and he is, he only has a slight edge in TB, 281 to 268. You also have to taken into account positional difference. 2B vs 1B. Give me a 2B with Utley's numbers anyday of the week, twice on Sundays. |

Re: August 23rd NL MVP voting
I voted Pujols. His team lineup is awful. I know they did alright without him earlier in the year I think? But without him in the lineup, I would face them any day.

Beltran by a hair over Pujols.

Re: August 23rd NL MVP voting
Beltran also. Premium position and great defense/speed/power combo.
