gained ground tonight in the WC

It took an off day for us to make some ground up, but Philly lost in extra innings. Finally, Washington helps out a bit. Now lets go sweep SD and get right back in this thing.

No, the Reds didn't gain ground. Both San Francisco and Houston won; which pushes them exactly one game behind the Reds.

Of the top five Wild Card teams, only the Reds have produced a negative Run Differential.

If the Reds gain ground, it needs to be against every team vying for the Wild Card. Otherwise, they're simply entering a scenario in which multiple teams can leapfrog over them. When multiple teams are close, the job gets far more difficult.

Yep. Even though nobody has really broke out yet, with 5 teams surrounding the Reds it's likely that one of them is going to get hot down the sretch and reel off a bunch of wins. The Reds likely need to step up their play to remain competitive. They have defeated the odds so far, but it's hard to imagine every one of those teams to play near .500 baseball the rest of the way.

Fact is the WC race is so bunched up right now you can't really gain ground 'cause on any given night some will win and some will lose. The Reds need to string some wins together before they can scoreboard watch. They need only concern themselves with getting a little over .500 and not worry about how's doing what in the WC hunt.

HOuston is doing it again. They might be the team that wins the central. If they score they will win. I'm ready for a sweep of SD myself.

Gained some more ground tonight! Well, hopefully. We better not blow it. With Philly off we are tied with them and only 1/2 game out.
