MLB's 50+ Home Run Hitters in 2006

Similar to that of the 20 win pitchers, a thread like this pops up every few months on here, and since we are in the stretch run here and in the last month of the season, the shape and scope of players who can reach this plateau is beginning to take shape with some players already reaching this goal. Out of the players listed below, who and how many homers will each of these players reach? Listed below is the player, their respective team, how many homers they have as of right now, and also how many games they currently have left in the season (for the games, if they have a maybe there, it is due to the fact of all the rainouts that occurred on Tuesday, and they are as close as possible). I have basically included any and all players that have 25+ homers for the season.

Well, this one is a bit tougher. In the NL, I believe that Howard (who is already there), Soriano, and Pujols will reach the 50 mark. Howard will end up with 62 homers making him the first 'legit' person to break the 61 homer barrier legally without the use of the juice, at least in my eyes. Soriano will end with right at 50 with a homer on the last day of the season, and Pujols will hit 55 homers, when he goes on a tear the last week of the season.

In the AL, you will have Ortiz, Hafner, and Dye all reach the 50 homer mark. Dye will just reach it with 50 homers and get there the second to last day of the season. Ortiz will get 51 homers and the only reason he doesn't have or get more is because he isn't 100% healthy. And Hafner ends the season with 54 homers and will be the AL home run champion, with Ryan Howard being the NL and MLB home run champion with his mark of 62 Home Runs.

One thing of note, that struck me as really odd. I know that the fans in New York can be rather rough at times, especially if you are really slumping, such as the case with ARod, but looking at least at his Home Run totals here, he is still hitting 30+ every year, including this year which is a 'down' year for him, but in 99% of every other player (relatively speaking) it would be a career year, and he is 10th in the AL in Home Runs and is tied for 18th in the whole majors. I think that just goes to show how tough the fans in New York can be sometimes and also just how good of an overall player and talent that ARod is in my books. Now I am not trying to knock ARod, or the Yankees, or the fans and people of New York, I am just trying to state just how good of a player ARod is, despite where he plays or for what team or for whatever reason...

Now back to the question at hand, who do you think will reach the 50 homer plateau and how many of the people and how many will they reach?

You mean Bonds???? I am glad that he nowhere near the top of the list!!! Although with what 3 or 4 more homers he would have made it since I made the cutoff be 25 dongs. Just think, a mere 5 to 8 years ago if I would have made the cutoff be 25 homers with a month left in the season, that list could very well have been what doubled if not more!!!!
