Astros lead early against the Cards

The Astros have scored 4 in the 1st off Marquis today and are still batting.

Marquis has already thrown 45+ pitches in the first inning.

Marquis is replaced in the 2nd. In 1+ innings he gave up 5 hits and 2 walks.

Annnnnd out goes Marquis after Willy Taveras leads off the second with a single. (Isn't Jason the guy who's usually left in to give up 14 runs?) 51 pitches.

Brad Thompson now pitching.

Yep, Marquis is usually left in to get torched, and fortunately for him, the Cards sometimes come back, which is why he's won 14 games with that 5.82 ERA. Marquis is the lucky guy to follow Jeff Weaver in the rotation. Weaver's starts almost always put a nice little taxing on the St. Louis bullpen, which means the next day, if Jason implodes, the bullpen is already worn thin. Fortunately for Jason today, Jeff Weaver had a good start (for him) yesterday and went 5 innings, only giving up 5 ER, and they only had to use 3 relievers yesterday, so Jason gets a long overdue early hook.

Re: Astros lead early against the Cards

I want to the Cards to lose as much as anyone, but it's a mixed bag if the Astro's win....

I guess I'm just sick of all the talking heads on the worldwide leader constantly saying the Astro's are the team to watch out for in the wildcard. I'd just love to see them eliminated.

But I want the Cards to lose too, so the Reds can just take the Central and not worry about the Wild Card.

Id rather the Astros beat the Cards..........we still have games against the STros.. so IF(big if) they catch us......we cant overtake them head to head.. we dont play the cards anymore

Cards finally score, Oswalt gone. I say we make Garner promise not to bring in Lidge.

Freddy Garcia has a NO HITTER going in the 5th vs the Angels.

(I hate the White Sox)

Re: Astros lead early against the Cards

Ben Sheets has a NO HITTER through 5 IP as well.

Although I like Ben Sheets, he's pitching against the Pirates, minus Jason Bay in the lineup. He doesn't need my help.

Cards lose. It's a final.

Re: Astros lead early against the Cards

Braves leading early against the Phils, 4-0. Kyle Davies just went deep, which was also his first hit of the year. Make that 5-0, game 1 of a DH. Watch the Braves win out to make the playoffs yet again.
