Best/Worst Outfielder Arms (per the players)

I was a little hesitant to trust this list when I thought it was simply an SI writer poll. Ears gets a little love; while, Damon isn't fooling a soul at this point....

Quote:
SI Players Poll
[Based on a survey of 415 MLB players]
Which outfielder has the best arm in baseball?

Ichiro Suzuki,.....Mariners.....48%
Vladimir Guerrero,....Angels.....32%
Jose Guillen,....Nationals.....8%
Jeff Francoeur,....Braves.....7%
Vernon Wells,....Blue Jays.....1%
Austin Kearns,....Nationals.....1%
Torii Hunter,....Twins.....1%
Mark Kotsay,....A's.....1%
Brad Hawpe,....Rockies.....1%
Geoff Jenkins,....Brewers.....1%

Which outfielder has the worst arm in baseball?

Johnny Damon,.....Yankees.....37%
Juan Pierre,....Cubs.....13%
Luis Gonzalez,....D-Backs.....12%
Bernie Williams,....Yankees.....9%
Shannon Stewart,....Twins.....8%
Rondell White,....Twins.....5%
Randy Winn,....Giants.....3%
Jacque Jones,....Cubs.....2%
David Dellucci,....Phillies.....2%
Barry Bonds,....Giants.....1%

FAST FACTS: No other outfielder got more than 1% of the "strongest" vote....The only regular leftfielder to get a strongest vote was the Nationals' Alfonso Soriano, a converted second baseman who leads all outfielders with 19 assists...two every-day rightfielders received weakest votes: The Cubs' Jacque Jones (2%) and the Padres' Brian Giles (1%)...The 5'9", 172-pound Suzuki has won a gold glove in each of his five seasons.

And to think, some have suggested on this board that we would improve as a team if we signed Juan Pierre to be our everyday CF for 2007. Covers a lot of ground, can't throw the ball back to the infield. Great combination. While we're at it, let's bat him leadoff with that stellar career .351 OBP and a BB/K ratio of 1:1. On the bright side, he is 1 of only 6 current LHB with a minimum of 4000 AB and a career BA of at least .300. That has to count for something, right?

Anyone else not sold on Juan Pierre?

Gee... for the kind of money Damon makes you'd think he would at least be able to throw the ball.

I'd put money on the statment "Given 600 PA in 2007, Chris Denorfia will be both a better offensive and defensive player than Juan Pierre."

I couldn't agree more. Hopefully Denorfia has a great ST and is rewarded with a starting spot, ideally in CF. Even if he doesn't have a phenomenal ST, I think we still need to give him a starting spot. Denorfia is the reason we traded Kearns and Lopez in the same deal, now let's see if he can validate the deal.
