Re: Will Dunn get 95 RBIs?

Adam Dunn may have had an off year with personal stats.

There isn't a hitter on the team who wouldn't trade numbers with him.

When will we ever learn that BA and K's are only a small part of the total sum of run production?

Apprently he's trying a clever disguise. I would to if I was in a funk like what he's currently going through. At least he hasn't lost his sense of humor.

He's created more then 25 more runs then the next best Reds player.

Where are all of these posts that are blaming only Dunn for this season? I suppose they could be out there and I'm just missing them.

Yes Dunn is our best hitter, and yes the rest of the team would trade season numbers with him. And yes there are probably 50 other reasons why the Reds haven't finished strong (and I think most of them are also being talked about), but when your best hitter finishes the season the way he has it's worth talking about. And I don't bash Dunn (I can't remember another time that I have) I keep saying that he's gonna break out. And I still say that a lot of it has to do with not having Jr. hitting behind him.

My point is that I see a bunch of posts in sarcasm saying things like "yeah Dunn is this team's only problem", when I haven't seen anybody blame only Dunn for this season.

ESPN agrees.

Dunn 105
Hatteberg 79

They probably use different RC formulas.

I always use the ESPN stats myself, so I am right.

Re: Will Dunn get 95 RBIs?

These "runs created" stats are interesting. Here's a few Dunn stats:

1. Of the 33 players with 30 or more home runs in MLB, Dunn has fewer RBIs than all but Adam Laroche (31 homers, 89 RBIs), Billy Hall (33/82) and Nick Swisher (34/91).

2. Dunn is tied for 44th - 46th place in RBIs in MLB.

3. Dunn is 32nd in MLB in runs scored. Dunn also has the 32nd most plate appearances in MLB.

Why so hung up on RBI? You're not the only one, Kc61, so this isn't a personal attack on you at all, I just wanted to make that clear.

Producing/creating runs ties in with RBI, just maybe not with Dunn actually knocking them in. By not making outs, Dunn's increasing our team's chances to score runs. Who actually knocks in those runs makes no difference to me.

Re: Will Dunn get 95 RBIs?

I don't care what the stats say Dunn is killing us right now. He's clearly having some major issues and at this point in his career with the big contract I'm a bit concerned.

I am a fan of Adam Dunn, but right now I have my doubts if he will even get 93 RBI this season.

Re: Will Dunn get 95 RBIs?

Comparing Dunn's stats to other members of the Reds squad and/or saying that other players on this team would love to have Dunn's stats, is really missing the point.

Why don't you put his numbers up next to Womack's and/or Castro's for cryin' out loud, and make him into Superman. Comparing him to other Red's players proves nothing IMHO.

For Adam Dunn, and especially what he has done (or the lack thereof) in the last 2 months, this defintely turned into an off-year for him.

But for anyone to try and make him shoulder the reason for this team's collapse in the last 2 months, without looking at this team as a whole, is being just as dishonest.
