Cards blow it again. 2.5 back

Is there still hope? 2.5 back with 5 games to go. The cards could lose out it seems!

With Carpenter going tonite and the Cards losing the flood gates could be open.

I think it is a bridge too far for the Reds, especially since they have two games to go before they get back to Harang and Arroyo. However it would not surprise me to see the 'Stros steal the division from the Cards.

Guess it turns out Narron was right when he said the division was the target to be focused on. Too bad the team did play like they believed him in the last 3 weeks.

I wish I knew hot to quit the Cards.

I fully expect them to blow it now and honestly would rather the Reds get it over the Astros cause I hate the Astros.

Not too fond of my own team right now. Embarressed would be the better word to use I guess.

Narron will have him on short leash, just like he did with Berlisle last night.

Michalak gave up only 1 ER his last outing - albeit a rain shortened one (4.1 innings). So, yes, we have a shot. Enough with the bad karma!

The bottom line is...we're only 2.5 games back! Of course we have a shot! This is a pennant race, y'all...and we're still in it!

That was the only time the REDS have won in 5 starts for Michalak this year. Of course scoring 15 runs in 5 games is not a good way to win games for anyone not named Bob Gibson or Walter Johnson!

The REDS are 7-3 in Miami since 2003. I think the REDS are 9-3 since 2003 has a nice sound to it.

My point is that it's not automatic. Of course, we know the history of Michalek, he's been spotty and that's probably an understatement. If he's out there tonight, I want him to win, no matter how terrible he's been before. We've got one down, let's get another one today.

Yep. It's another Johnny Wholestaff start.

Re: Cards blow it again. 2.5 back

The Cards are in rough straits, but they aren't going to lose 12 games to close the season. That's just not going to happen. I look for them to take the final series against Milwaukee, sealing the deal on the last day of the season by a game.

I think Houston drops two in Atlanta, and I see the Reds dropping the next two in Florida, sealing their respective fates.

Re: Cards blow it again. 2.5 back

I think 4-1 may do it.

Think about it. The Reds go 4-1 and the Cards go 2-3, which is very possible the way that they have been playing. That would force the make-up game with SF, to determine if we have a 1-game playoff.

The way I look at it, we just need to make up two games to force that make-up game.

And the Stro's? We just need them to go no better than 3-2. If they do 3-2 (and we go 4-1) we may have a 3-way tie.

I just think 4-1 is realistic and might be good enough.

If the Reds go 5-0, I think this thing is ours.

Crazy.

It's like crack. Not that I've had it, but I'm sure it's very similar.
