Tuesday playoff thread

Decided to telecommute today so I could watch some of the games.

Johan Santana vs. Barry Zito is an awfully fun matchup to watch.

OAK up 2-0 in the 3rd. HR by Thomas, double by Scutaro. If Santana doesn't win at home, it isn't looking good for the Twinkies. Where's Juan Castro when you need him?

Re: Tuesday playoff thread

Zito through 3 on only 32 pitches. Minnesota so far with only one baserunner on a leadoff walk.

Re: Tuesday playoff thread

Santana has thrown 55 pitches through 3 innings; Zito has thrown 33.

2-0 A's after 3.

Twins have turned into first strike out machines against a pitcher who has had serious control issues over the course of the season.

Zito can chew up a lineup if it isn't willing to take pitches.

How can this be...I thought they cured all their ills when they unloaded all those dreaded scrappy vets earlier in the season.

Re: Tuesday playoff thread

What's the playoff record for pop outs in a single game? The Twins would seem to be well on their way to it.

but for the playoffs they now have the likes of Punto, Hunter, White and Nevin out there.

This team was basically carried by three players(Mauer, Cuddyer and Morneau).

Re: Tuesday playoff thread

Cuddyer with a chance to get the Twins back in the game. Sweet strike one by Zito.

And Cuddyer grounds out after Zito jams him.

I think Barry Zito may be the world's most perfect person.

Re: Tuesday playoff thread

Error on Bartlett. Castro would have made that play.
