Visitors to RedsZone at All-Time High

What is up with the unusally high number of visitors to RZ? As I write this post it shows that there are 1,117 visitors at the site right now. It seems like RZ is running slow and I wonder if this is the reason. Surely there cannot be that many "legitamate" visitors at such an early hour and during a non-eventful time. Is RZ being "attacked" by those disgusting Bot things?

"Those disgusting Bot things" are what make your favorite search engines such a good place to find things on the net. You probably were visiting the board at the same time some search engine's bots were visiting.

Ah! Oops, no offense to the Bots (I like using search engines)!

Thanks for the reasoning, U. I noticed the highest ever visitors notation on the homepage was today and I was experiencing slowness with RZ at the same time. I was hoping that the almighty RZ was not being attacked by something. In other words... I am not very "net savvy".

You're correct that there are good bots and bad bots.

From our vantage point here in 2006, the ones that descend in a swarm upon message boards tend to be the good ones. The bad ones these days seem to be mostly devoted to flooding our email with spam, since there's money to be made there.

The few bad message board bots that remain leave spam posts in their wake with links to porn sites and pill sellers. I wish the message board at my employer would be as effective as this board is at keeping those bots at bay.

The Winter Meetings are in progress. Lots of GMs and their assistants are looking for advice.

In that case, I cannot believe what a bargain Eric Milton, Bubba Crosby, and Juan Castro are going to be this year. I don't think their agents will ever be allowed to represent ball players again. I predict career years for all three. This is the year that Brandon Claussen becomes a major league ace as well.

I heard Castro put on 30 pounds of muscle and reduced his body fat to 2.4% over the offseason.

Exactly!

Come on, guys! Don't start yakking and giving away the tremendous market advantage the Reds have!

Last week when I was at the Precinct I overheard that Eric Milton underwent revolutionary surgery that replaced his knee with fibers of springy steel. I won't say that I heard that he can throw 175 unhittable strikes every third day for the next ten years in case there are other GMs lurking, but I will say that his knee is slightly improved.

There is something flaky going on. I think Boss or GIK should look into it if they have time.

Wow, that's almost more than the Reds drew per game at the end of last season!
