Re: Rumor: Pirates-Yankees-Braves 3-Way
LaRoche's career will rot in Pittsburgh.
Mike Gonzalez will set up for Mo Rivera. No one will care about Cabrera in ATL. |

Go figure, the four letter network says Cabrera is too much for Gonzales.

Re: Rumor: Pirates-Yankees-Braves 3-Way
Per Yahoo sports:
Update: The Yankees are close to sending Melky Cabrera and a prospect to Pittsburgh for Gonzalez, the New York Post reports. Recommendation: There have been rumors recently of a three-way trade that would also involve Atlanta, where Cabrera and Scott Proctor would go to the Braves and Adam LaRoche would go to the Pirates. However, giving up both Proctor and Cabrera for Gonzalez would be overpaying on the Yankees' part, so the Atlanta aspect of the trade is being cut out. It's not known which prospect the Yankees would include in the deal. Look for this deal to get done. Updated on Saturday, Dec 16, 2006 12:21 pm EST |

Re: Rumor: Pirates-Yankees-Braves 3-Way
It makes you wonder if these GMs are even trying. Are they shopping guys or just taking the first offer they get?

Re: Rumor: Pirates-Yankees-Braves 3-Way
I often wonder that myself. I mean if you are willing to give up X player and one team is willing to offer something in return, is there something ethically that prevents you as a GM from calling the other 28 teams and asking what their best offer for said player is?

Why would the Braves do that? Mike Gonzalez makes sense, but Melky Cabrera?

Re: Rumor: Pirates-Yankees-Braves 3-Way
The Braves have Scott Thorman to play first base and I wouldn't be suprised if they put Chipper over there this year. I am guessing that the Braves are wary of LaRoche getting too expensive in the next couple of years and his value should be at an all time high right now. I would love to see the Reds get him, but I guess Krivsky will be more inclined to get a right handed bat which wouldn't be a bad idea if that bat is a good one. Adam LaRoche would be a great pickup, he had a fabulous year last season. I think his 2006 is what we hope Joey Votto can turn into. LaRoche's defense is suspect since he has ADD (according to that ESPN report last year.) He also is taking a banned substance with the approval of MLB to help him cope with the disorder.
