Bring back Dan O

I can't believe I'm saying this...

Its time we bring back Dan O, not for the GM position- he was waaaaay too inept at both trading and negotiating contracts (see: Milton, Eric), but if there is any way we could convince him to return to the Reds to oversee the draft I think that this could be the best move the Reds could make this offseason. Is it possible he just got lucky and caught lightning in a bottle (twice) with Homer Bailey and Jay Bruce? Maybe, but the drafts in the DanO regime certainly netted a more impressive haul than what we got last year.

I'm usually a Krivsky advocate (with the exception of The Trade), but put me down with all those that would have much rather drafted almost ANYONE in the top ten other than Stubbs, and I'm not sure if our later picks were much better. Granted its early, but if we could net guys like Bailey and Bruce every year, BRING BACK DAN O TO RUN THE DRAFT!

Re: Bring back Dan O

You surely give up on prospects soon dont you? The hitters have had what, 200 at bats? Pitches all of 50 innings?
I think DanO did a fine job drafting, but his 2004 draft was pretty bad after Homer Bailey. 2005 I like quite a bit more. Last year is still way to early to judge.
With that said, I still contend Dano had nothing to do with Eric Milton other than he happened to be the GM when the owner said we are signing him.

Re: Bring back Dan O

If the Reds would hire DanO again, I would cease being a Reds fan. well, maybe not, but I wouldn't be happy at all. As far as the draft, he didn't even run his own draft did he?
