Mets designate Standridge for assignment
http://blogs.nydailynews.com/mets/ar...d_for_assi.php
The Mets designated reliever Jason Standridge for assignment to clear a 40-man roster spot. Standridge was claimed off waivers from the Reds. He could still remain with the organization as a non-roster invitee to spring training if he clears.

Might as well toss his name into the hat for potential guys to be the #5 starter.
That list has to be at least 48 guys deep by now. |

Re: Mets designate Standridge for assignment
I'd certainly be in favor of signing him to a minor league contract. He'd be at least as good a bet as a number of the guys we signed. He still throws hard.

Do we have room on the 40 man?

Been there, done that.

Definition of replacement level.
