Re: ok so i went to the bars last night...

I'm not sure how you get to the point where you are making out with someone's wife in a bar.

I can tell you one thing pal, you are lucky it wasn't my wife.

I take it that hubby wasn't there... and I'm sure making out wasn't on the agenda for the night. Anyhoo... that must be some bar!

This is great support of why you need to see how things are with this girl. Can her husband see the photos? Does anyone in the group know him?

Most of the negligence lies with her, but you'll be the one that takes the fall if her husband can't see that.

Ah, yes, morality lessons from the U.S. government.

Mr. Pot, have you met my dear old friend, Mr. Kettle?

My point wasn't that one actually is more moral than the other. Wherever people are involved, nothing's perfect.

My point was that corporate America doesn't have such rules, for the most part. I've worked in places where affairs were going on and nobody ever got punished for it. Adultery is legal, and to make it some sort of punishable offense by an entity that is notorious for breaking the law or acting immoral strikes me as strange.

The bureaucracy is disappointing but the hypocrisy is maddening.

Here's a few facts offered to offset a couple ofsweeping generalizations that have been made:
The Uniform Code of Military Justice does not specifically prohibit adultery, but it does contain a provision, Article 134, prohibiting "all disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces [and] all conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces . . . ."
Manual for Courts-Martial expressly defines adultery as violating the "prejudice of good order" provision of the Uniform Code.

It is true that adultery often bespeaks a character flaw, but so do a host of other forms of private conduct that the military does not proscribe.

Adultery is illegal in 24 US states.

Re: ok so i went to the bars last night...

Apologize to her first thing Monday morning. Tell her she is a sweet gal, but between her being your boss and being married, it was a big mistake.

And don't go out drinking with them again. If you do, stay far, far away from her.

You're not doing her any favors by putting her in a very compromising position. Both of you could get fired.

Just to be clear, making out with your married boss is a really bad idea. Learn from it.

Any indictments or convictions lately?

Very interesting. Thanks for the post.

All I've said is that it is a punishable offense. If it isn't specifically addressed but can fall under another umbrella and therefore be punishable, I'm not sure there is much of a difference.

In fact- it would probably make it worse because then some people get punished and some people don't.

No idea if that actually occurs but that's the situation the law seems to set up as written.

That's pretty stupid.

So is adultery......but, it shouldn't be a crime.

From the article:

"...an obscure and seldom-used provision of the state's criminal law became the subject of international scrutiny."

This is not commonplace.
