If the 5th symphony's adagietto will "freaking tear you apart" than you'd be best to avoid Mahler's Kindertotenlier (Songs on the death of children), Das Lied von der Erde (The first movement, entitled "Das Trinklied vom Jammer der Erde" - The Drinking Song of Earth's Misery- continually returns to the refrain, Dunkel ist das Leben, ist der Tod - "Dark is life, is death"), and (in my opnion ) his finest piece, "Ich bin der welt abhanden geckommen" - "I have become lost to the world". As you can see from these titles, he was a flag-carrying late-Romantic artist.

Wow... you really know your Mahler! The 9th is great... the ending is fantastic. I love pretty much all of the Mahler works, but I wanted to give a good representation of my tastes on my list. 2 and 6 are favorites of mine as well, but being a trumpet player, I couldn't resist the 5th.

Great choices. I love the muted arpeggiated guitar part in the chorus of "In the Morning." It's by far my favorite BTS song.

And well, that a hugely popular hit song like "Lucy in the Sky..." was written to waltz-time is a testament to Lennon's genius. I wonder what the next popular waltz will be?
