This is kind of off topic but this intrasquad game got me thinking. I think our AAA team could beat the big league club.

Yeah thats a reach, although the baseball magazines dont give the Reds much of a chance, I think this team will surprise a lot of people. Anyway if you were to start Harang against our AAA team he would probably shut them out, so basically our offense would only need to score once or twice.

nothing like predicting your opening day SS & catcher to hit some 50ish points below their career average

2007 Chattanooga Lookouts Begin Spring Training Play
Other News About Future And Past Lookouts by Tim Evearitt posted March 23, 2007 Chris Dickerson, who had a big game Wednesday, has been scheduled to open with the 2007 Chattanooga Lookouts. The Minor League teams have begun Spring Training play in preparation for the 2007 season. In an intrasquad game, the Triple-A Louisville Bats and the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts battled each other Wednesday afternoon in Sarasota. Louisville won the game on a sacrifice fly by Earl Snyder that scored Chris Dickerson to give the Bats the 4-3 win. Dickerson, who may open with Chattanooga, went 1-3 with a triple and an RBI. Joey Votto, 2006 Lookout and Southern League Player of the Year, went 2-4 with a homerun for the Bats. Another former Lookout, reliever Brad Salmon, struck out the side in his only inning of the game. * * * * * In other news, shortstop Paul Janish was optioned to the Reds Minor League camp Wednesday. Janish will probably start the year in Chattanooga. One of the Reds' top prospects, outfielder Jay Bruce hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to propel the Louisville Bats to a 4-3 victory over the Rochester Red Wings on Monday. Bruce is expected to open the season at High-A Sarasota but could be in Chattanooga by mid-season. Former Lookout Jesse Gutierrez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Pitcher Homer Bailey (Reds top prospect) appearing in his first game since being reassigned to minor league camp, went three innings, allowing one run while striking out two. http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_104118.asp |
