Haha...found it online and didn't even check to see if that's correct...but interesting none the less.

Really not that strange when you actually write it out on paper and do the multiplication. Try writing it out and you'll see why it happens to equal 12,345,678,987,654,321. BTW... you will be writing lots of ones if you write this out... and be sure to keep your columns of ones straight. When you see it completely written out and the shift of ones to the left, you will see how the sequence thing happens.
