Yesterday's win in perspective
What a great way to end winter and usher in a new season with a vistory! But yesterday was more than just starting off on the right foot and really more than just any other win. We beat a division rival and we beat a true #1 Ace starter.
How many times will we face Oswalt, Sheets, Carpenter, or Zambrano this year? Twice each? Any time we can beat a central division team it's huge and when we beat their Ace it's even bigger. That's one more victory the Cubs will have to get out of Lilly or Marquis now. We learned last year how important every game is come season's end - especially every game against the central division. With the parity we have, the race will be neck and neck again this year in the central. It's a long season but yesterday was huge! |
