Major League Soccer Talk
Watched NY Red Bulls vs. Columbus Crew opener... gotta say, I'm much more interested in the MLS this season, esp. with Beckham and Reyna joining the league. Reyna has lost a step or two, but his class was clear on the field for the Red Bulls. The slower pace of MLS v. EPL should be a huge boon to Reyna--and Beckham as well--in prolonging their careers.
Heard Reyna will make 1 million per season with the Red Bulls. Not bad!! Blanco to Chicago Fire as well in July. I really like this Beckham rule. Raising the star power--stars who can STILL PLAY, mind you--of the MLS will be an important component of not only raising the overall level of play--which is undeniably rising all the time--but garnering new fans and greater interest from the American populace. |

Re: Major League Soccer Talk
As long as MLS has enough cash to pay marquee players the new rule is a good one. I have supported MLS--and Columbus Crew--from the beginning and believe it will someday be an elite league. We are still a long way from that day, however.
