It was highly amusing tonight to see this on the Chase Field scoreboard for Edwin's first at bat. I knew I slipped my small digital in my pocket for a reason when leaving the house this evening.



It should be noted that about the 3rd pitch of his first at bat the image went away, and every other time thereafter a Reds logo appeared in its place, meaning someone told the scoreboard operator about the error.

This makes me wonder - did MLB, or perhaps the Reds, goof and sent out team images and mistakenly name Eddie Guardado's image "Edwin Encarnacion"?

Two of the same mistake is just too ironic to simply be a coincidence.

I imagine this is coming out of some data service (be it from MLB or the Reds) supplying the wrong image in their regular data feed.

Apparently, MLB sent Eddie Guardado's headshot to every stadium in baseball for the scoreboard shots of Edwin Encarnacion. They don't look similar at all.
