Where's the "D"?
I'm sure it will come, but I really need the opinion of others' on this thread. I've only seen one game all year, because nothing else has been televised out here.
These are some horrible stats: We're dead last in the league in turning doubleplays with seven. Everyone else is at least in double figures and half the league has 13 or more with the Mets at 23. Our outfield has yet to get an assist. We're dead last in the league in stopping the stolen base with our -11 differential. Then there's what's not in the stats....playing the ball wrong for those of you who have witnessed this. My question is: Will we get better, stay the same, or will we get worse? edit: I meant to add, is it OK the way it is. And, no, it's not the weather.

Re: Where's the "D"?
I actually think we have played some good team defense to start the season. We've kicked a few, but much better than last year I think. BP and AGonz have been sensational up the middle. That includes a lot of pop ups for BP that Griffey couldn't get to.
Also, as far as the double plays go. We have not allowed a lot of baserunners this year. Our opposing OBP avg is 7th at .306 and our WHIP is 8th at 1.23. We are also 3rd in strikeouts at 116 (leader is at 118). So we are getting a lot of K's instead of ground balls. I like our D a lot this year. |

Re: Where's the "D"?
Honestly, our problem isn't the defense. Thats the crazy part of the game last night as well. Defense wouldn't save the Lane homerun cause that got belted.

Re: Where's the "D"?
You've both stated what I forgot to add, and that's, "Is our Defense OK?"

Re: Where's the "D"?
Our great shortstop probably has a lot on his mind right now, but he sure doesn't look that great out there.
More like adequate.
