5/16/07 Minors updates

[Danny Serafini]

The continuation of last night's Bats/Mud Hens rainout is underway. Tom Shearn took over for Dumatrait. The game picked up with the Bats up 2-0 in the second, that's where it stands after the inning. There was a regularly scheduled game at 10:30 this morning, that's been replaced by picking up last night's game and a doubleheader will be played tomorrow.

Dewayne Wise led off the 3rd with a single, but managed to get himself picked off for the Bats only action. Shearn pitched an easy 1-2-3 3rd. 2-0 LOU after 3.

Bellhorn got the only Bats hit in the 4th, a single. Shearn is in the process of self destructing in the bottom of the inning. He's started by allowing a single, 2 walks and a 3 run double. Just got the first out.

Caught stealing and a K ends the inning, but the damage is done. 3-2 TOL after 4.

A Dewayne Wise double was the only hit for the Bats in the 5th. Chris Shelton singled with 2 outs for the Hens. Timo Perez followed with a double, but Shelton was thrown out at the plate 7-5-2 (Edwards-Encarnacion-Jorgensen). 3-2 TOL after 5.

Bats are on second and third with one out following a Herr walk and Bellhorn double. Pitching change. Don't know how it is at the stadium, but at my office 5 miles away it's raining right now, this could get cut short.

Edwards and Dickerson both K to end the scoring chance.

Hens go down 1-2-3. 3-2 TOL after 6. The lights are on at the stadium and the wind is picking up.

Bats wasted an opportunity in the 7th. Jorgensen led off with an infield single. 2 outs later Votto walked and Encarnacion drew a catchers interference call to load the bases. (How does Encarnacion keep doing that?) Herr struck out to end the inning.

Someone named Vincent Blue got his first career AAA hit for the Hens, but that's it this inning. 3-2 TOL after 7.

Bats blow another opportunity and strand 2 in the 8th. Majewski in to pitch now.

Hens get a hit and a walk but don't score. To the 9th we go down 3-2 with Wise, Votto and Encarnacion due up.

Fisher hits a 2 RBI double.
Game is 3-3

Wise grounds out to start the 9th. Votto singles to center and it's badly misplayed, tack on a 2 base error. Encarnacion doubles off the wall in left center, tie game!
