Wednesday 5-23 minor league updates

Louisville is off tonight. Chattanooga, Sarasota, and Dayon all play later on tonight.

Travis Wood returns from the DL to start tonight for Sarasota.

What did he go to the DL for?

He had muscle issues in his arm. He has been rehabbing for the past few weeks.

listen to Sarasota online

The game is being broadcast on the internet by the Daytona Cubs through milb.com. You have to sign up to listen online, but its free and you can rarely listen to Sarasota games online.

Re: Wednesday 5-23 minor league updates

I'm not going to be able to listen to that Sarasota game but I think a buddy of mine calls the games for the Daytona Cubs. His name is Dan Watson, he used to call our college games up here in Columbus. If anyone gets a chance to listen to it, let me know if he is on there and how he does. Thanks...

Re: Wednesday 5-23 minor league updates

Travis Wood fires back to back curveballs and gets the #3 hitter to pop up weakly to the second baseman. Nice first inning back.

Re: Wednesday 5-23 minor league updates

I think a lot of people have forgotten about Travis Wood due to his injury this year, but he's still a very good prospect with lots of upside if he stays healthy. This is a guy who struckout right around a batter per inning last year while allowing only 108 hits in 140 innings last year as a 19-year old kid in the Midwest League. He's stil very much a top prospect.

Wood had tricep tendanitis. Worst case, the source is from the elbow tendon, best case, that is all it is and quick recovery.

Hopefully he can rebound, put up strong numbers in high A and boost his trade value.

Or he could put up strong numbers and move up to AA, then AAA and then Cincinnati one day.....

Daytona announcers 'Most important thing, no one is on base for Jay Bruce'.

Re: Wednesday 5-23 minor league updates

Travis Wood strikes out the first batte of the 2nd inning. That is 3 strikeouts in 4 batters faced today. Next batter singles to Jay Bruce. Another infield pop up in foul territory for Travis Wood.

Re: Wednesday 5-23 minor league updates

Travis Wood called strike 3 on the last out of the inning on a great curveball according to the announcer.
