The Reds are in the basement in baseball's weakest division, but considering the state of the division race, they could decide to stand pat, unless the Reds do start entertaining offers for some of their more tradeable talent, like first baseman Scott Hatteberg or outfielder Adam Dunn. And we can probably expect the annual round of Ken Griffey Jr. trade rumors to start swirling.

I certainly hope the Reds are sellers but I could see this front office standing pat and hoping for the best. At the very least they should be shopping guys like Hatteburg and Weathers since they should have some value to playoff contenders and are easily replaceable.

In regard to the potential free agents, I'm most interested in Scott Linebrink. In my humble opinion he'd be a great fit as a closer and will certainly be more affordable than a premier closer like Joe Nathan. Not only that but brining him in would allow guys like Coffey, Majewski and Bray to assume different roles where they're more likely to succeed.

It never occurred to me that Mr. Hat would be a commodity that would interest other teams. If we can move him, I would do so just so we can get Votto up here and get a look at him.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw his name. But the Indians seem pretty darn solid right now, and wouldn't need anything we could offer them.
