Well, I guess the reports that Mack wanted to get Javy some time behind the plate and Freel a lot of playing time were true. Yeech.

I hate to see Encarnacion sitting so Freel can play. That is 2 of the last 3 games that has happened.

If having Freel takes time away from Eddie, Phillips, and Hamilton then I say trade him... But only if the return is a major league ready or "close" major league ready arm....

Ain't gonna happen. Freel is the bomb (even when hitting less than .250 and an OBP that would embarrass most). You bat him high in the order so that he can wow the crowd with his dives and hot dog plays. You leave the underappreciated young hot sacker on the bench for the spicy Freel.

You know, I think Miley, Boone, Narron, and Pete had the same father.

Unless Encarnacion has struggled in the past with Brandon Webb (I don't know, but it's very possible), I would have started Edwin at 3B tonight.

I understand that Mack want to get playing time for Freel, and I'm fine with that. But I would have Ryan get his PT tomorrow afternoon in RF, as I would give Griffey Sunday off, since he isn't going to get much rest over the All-Star Break.

EdE is 1 for 5.

Only acceptable explanation is that EdE doesn't feel good today.

OR... the Yankees (or another team) want to see Freel at third again. Any other reason doesn't make sense for sure.

Here's an honest questions: as a manager, if you're pitching a young kid who has been knocked aroudn a lot in his past few starts, don't you want to stay consistent with who catches him? Not to knock Javy, but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better for him to stick Ross and Bailey together, if for no other reason than Ross has caught a lot of his previous starts and to negate any potential communication difficulties between the two.
