Pottermania: Day 1
Today begins a week I, along with millions of others, have been simultaneously looking forward to and dreading for several years: the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, the 7th and final book in the Harry Potter saga.
Simple question today -- who here, besides myself, is looking forward to the book's release this week?

My two daughtes (17 and 13) will be getting their copy (Amazon) when published.
I'll probably download the audio version to my ipod.

Re: Pottermania: Day 1
I refused to read the Harry Potter books for a long time, mainly because I was tired of people telling me how much I'd like them. You don't know me!
But I took the plunge and I have to admit, I've really enjoyed them. I'll definitely read it but only after my wife releases it from her vise-like grip (she's really excited about it).

In the immortal words of Snoop Dogg:
“I keep hearing about mutha ******* Harry Potter. Who is this mutha******?” My apologies for the masked profanity. I wanted the quote to be accurate.

My wife, wife's friend, wife's sister, and I are all going and buying our own copies so we don't have to wait to find out what happens.

Re: Pottermania: Day 1
We used to pre-order the book and go to the book store at 12:01 the night a new Harry Potter book was released and participate in all the geek-fest.
But my kids have all gotten bigger and would rather be out with their pals instead of fuddy-dud parents doing geeky stuff. So we'll buy a copy the day after with all the masses. I hardly think it will be hard to find a copy. We still have a standing rule though that nobody in the family can disclose what happens till everyone has read the book.

Re: Pottermania: Day 1
My kids and my wife will read it. I rarely read fiction, so I have abstained from reading the HP books. Since the subject matter isn't my cup of tea, I haven't seen any of the HP films either.

Re: Pottermania: Day 1
I havent pre-ordered mine yet, but when Half Blood Prince came out, I just happened to walk into a local Kroger and see an entire untouched pallet of them sitting there. no lines, no people.
hopefully my luck strikes twice.

Re: Pottermania: Day 1
My girlfriend pre-ordered a copy of book 7. We'll be picking it up midnight on the day it's released. She'll read it first. I'll get it when she's done, probably 24 hours after she picks it up.

Re: Pottermania: Day 1
I don't want to read it. I don't want it to be the last one. But I'll have to, or my friends will have to shut their mouths around me and that'll never happen.

Re: Pottermania: Day 1
I do want to read it eventually. But first, I need to read the first six.
