That was Darrel Chaney's 2nd homer of 14 he would hit for his career. I was looking at his stats on Retrosheet and he was the Braves full time SS in 1976. He led the NL errors with 37 that season. So there was a reason he wasn't an everyday SS with Reds or anyone else except for that one season.

A lineup chock-full of guys that were supposed to be good but ended up duds. The all-shoulda-coulda-woulda team.

I would imagine a Maddux in his prime carved these guys up.

The black hole extended to Brady Clark in the leadoff spot, as well. Brady (a fan fave here on RZ) hit only .152 for the Reds that season before being traded to the Mets.

Maddux pitched 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, with 5 K's and only 1 BB. He left with a 3-1 lead.
