Matt Morris to the Pirates?
LOS ANGELES (TICKER) -- The San Francisco Giants traded veteran righthander Matt Morris to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday for outfielder Rajai Davis and a player to be named.
Morris, who made his final start in a Giants uniform Sunday vs. the Florida Marlins, owns a 7-7 mark with a 4.35 ERA in 21 starts for the Giants this season. The 26-year-old Davis is hitting .271 (13-for-48) with two doubles, two RBI and five stolen bases in 24 games for the Pirates. The righthanded hitting speedster was recalled from Class AAA Indianapolis on June 5 and made 12 starts in center field for Pittsburgh. Interesting trade here. What was the point?

Re: Matt Morris to the Pirates?
What are the Pirates thinking? Maybe they got rid of Jack Wilson's horrible contract (and it just hasn't came through yet) and decided they needed to add one that is worse?

Jack is still with the Pirates...Matt Morris is on his way. What you read in the first post of this thread is all true...it was sent to us earlier to via email from the Pirates media relations director.

Re: Matt Morris to the Pirates?
How about Dunn to Pittsburgh for Morris and Ian Snell? I'm being partly serious. They get a year of the big guy to put some fans in the seats, plus the draft picks when he walks. We get a pitcher they've been trying unsuccessfully to trade, Snell, and Morris, who's probably going to be as good as anything we can buy in the market for next year and comes with the nice feature of having a contract only through next year. If they need more than Dunn, we can throw in Freel, Hopper, or a mid-level prospect.

Re: Matt Morris to the Pirates?
It would be a lot harder to trade anyone now. Dunn would have to pass through waivers, and any team could block the trade. I am pretty sure Washington would block it. Bowden still wants Dunn.
