Fenton Glass to Close

This is pretty much a local story for me, but I figured some people on here collect Fenton glass since it is pretty popular.

WTAP-TV has received a press release from Williamstown-based Fenton Art Glass Company.

The press release says the 105-year old glass-making company will "cease its operations over the next few months."

“This decision was difficult,” company President George W. Fenton said. “Since the announcement in June regarding our efforts toward financial restructuring, we took many steps to try to continue the company’s operations and the tradition of glassmaking. Ultimately, those efforts were not successful.”

George Fenton says the company met with employees today. Approximately 25 of the 150 current employees will be let go immediately. Others will be let go in the coming weeks.
