Reds trade C Moeller to Dodgers

August 11, 2007
CINCINNATI (TICKER) -- The Cincinnati Reds traded catcher Chad Moeller to the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash considerations on Saturday.

Moeller, who hit .167 (8-for-48) in 30 games for the Reds, will report to Class AAA Las Vegas.

An eight-year veteran, Moeller has a career average of .224 with 26 homers and 113 RBI in 414 games with Minnesota, Arizona, Milwaukee and Cincinnati.

so this is why he kept moeller all that time so he could trade him for half bag of peanuts and a case of diet coke. I guess some of the old guys in the bullpen could use the diet coke there looking alil overweight.

i can't believe with how tight that race is in the west, everyone let this trade pass through the waiver wire, considering the impact moeller could have on this race

Didnt Moeller have to clear waivers each time he was sent down? If that is the case, why in the world didnt the Dodgers just grab him then?

Had the Dodgers made a waiver claim deal, Moeller would have still been considered a part of the major league roster, I believe.

This way, the Dodgers can give up "cash considerations" (not even a player) and since the Reds had already sent him down, LA can stash him in the minors until September call-ups, when roster space allows for the luxury of a third catcher.
