George Grande said the "F"-word on the air during Sunday's broadcast.

I was just watching a replay of Sunday's game. In the bottom of the first with the bases loaded, and a 2-1 count on Edwin Encarnacion, Brantley mentioned Dunn's 39 2-out RBI's as being 4th best in the National League, and George Grande says, and I quote: "And a hit here can give them a big fu@@in' number in the first inning".

It just rolled off his tongue as part of the conversation. I replayed again to make sure, and there it was, plain as day, not garbled, but plain as day. He didn't use an "r" after the "f". It was clearly an "f" followed by a "u"

I've never heard that on a broadcast before.

I just went and listened. It was garbled, but I'm 99% sure he said "a big crooked number."

edit: i might add though, it sounded really edited when I listened, kind of like a bad dubbing in a movie.

If that is the case, we should get rid of this thread.

Oh, he said it. The broadcast I listened to was the "free" mlb.com broadcast which plays in the late evening following every game.

For a guy who doesn't pimp the show following the ballgame by using the complete 5 word show title on FSN, dropping the F-bomb on the air would be completely un-George Grande-like.

It would be completely un-Anybroadcaster like.

Why is this in the minor league forum? Wasn't it in another forum earlier today? Am I losing my mind?

I just listened to it again and he said "a big crooked number" this time.

I have yesterday's game still on my DVR. I just went back and watched that part and it certainly sounded like "crooked number" to me.

I just watched the MLB.TV version and it definitely sounds different than the version on my DVR. I still think he said "crooked number" the first time, but I think they tried to fix it to make it sound clearer. Maybe they fixed it because people were saying "that kinda sounds like the F-word."

Hell would freeze over if George Grande ever said that word in his life - let alone during a broadcast.

since this is a non-issue now, we'll just close the thread before we get totally out - of control with LeeAnn Tweeden references.
