Assuming the Cubs are the team to beat, we just have to make up 4.5 games in 1 month
Look, it's not likely - but there is a chance. Assuming the Cubs hang on to first place (I know, it is not a safe assumption for anyone in this division), then we only need to make up 4.5 games in the next month to have a chance at the division going into the final weekend.
We are 6.5 behind the Cubs as of today (August 28th). If we can trim that to 2 gb one month from today (September 28) then we would overtake the Cubs with a sweep in the final series we have at home against them (Sept. 28-30). Trim it to 1 gb by the 28th and 2 out of 3 over the Cubs in the final series gets you a one game playoff. Again, not likely with the 3-5 starters we have, but stranger things have happened. |

The Cubs with SWEET LOU in town. It will not be better than that if it is meaningful. Just don't let the Cub fans get all the tickets.

You really just have to cut it to three to make it meaningful...just means the Reds would have to win four straight instead of three.

We got tickets for the final Cubs series last week <came in yesterday's mail> for the Friday and Saturday games. Hoping for a good series! :-)

I bet they have give aways at Wrigley field... free Reds tickets. I can't stand stupid cub fans at Reds games. If anybody sees a Cubs fan at a Reds game show them what a true fan is all about.

Actually the Reds only need to make up 3 games to move within 3.5 of the cubs. Then if they swept the cubs they would make up the one other guy after that.

So far in Pittsburgh it's not looking too well (Pirates 6-1 5th inning) in game #1.
Regardless, I'm having fun with these fun to watch Reds(since July3rd). 1st Place Reds! Now wouldn't that be AWESOME!!! |
