Pitcher evaluations
Who in the Reds organization is responsible for evaluating pitchers for the draft or trades? Maybe it's time to hold some people accountable for the dismal track record. Or, maybe it's time to change their philosophy as to what to look for in a pitching prospect.

Re: Pitcher evaluations
Krivsky is responsible for the last 2 years, with the help of his scouts.

Re: Pitcher evaluations
As best I can recall, Gene Bennett and Chief Bender had remained as part of the Reds' scouting through all the changes in owners, GMs, and managers. Are they still involved or have they retired?

Re: Pitcher evaluations
I have just made my own pitcher evaluation. The conclusion reached is that in 2008 Burton and Weathers should exchange roles. Burton moves to closer and Weathers assumes the set-up role. It is not that I am unappreciative of the work Stormy has done for the club this season; but rather more of an acknowledgement that Burton is quickly becoming the man in the bullpen. While Weathers seems to be living on the edge more and more often. Some might say why fix something if it isn't broken, and I can see the logic in that line of thinking. I just feel what will help the Reds most in 2008 is Jared Burton closing.

Re: Pitcher evaluations
I agree about Burton being the closer.

Re: Pitcher evaluations
I'd rather see Weathers outrighted traded for a decent prospect. Let Bray/Majewski handle the setup role and throw Burton into the closer role.
Ship off Stanton and Sarloos, keep Coffey as I think he still has some potential. Try to move Dumatrait to the long relief role, as I think he's shown us what he has as a starter. |
