Jerry Gil is back!

OK, maybe the title was a little overly enthusiastic, but he's been brought off the DL, with Freel moving to the 60 day to make room on the roster. Didn't expect to see him at all this year, and certainly not with only four games left.

Re: Jerry Gil is back!

It wasn't clear to me though whether he would be with the big club in these last few games.

Re: Jerry Gil is back!

Here's my thought on it, yet I have no idea if this is plausible:

Moving Freel to the 60, opens up another spot on the 40 man, most likely for the purpose of the Rule V draft. Gil might be here for 4 days just because they can bring him in for four days. Freel won't be taking up a spot come Dec 6 at 9am. Gil is most likely gone at that point anyway. Just a thought.

Aves the disabled list does not exist during the offseason. Freel must be on the 40 man.

I realized the same thing, but keep in mind, various players will move in to free agency freeing up slots.
